First Baptist Church Bogata
We welcome YOU!

While in-person services are suspended,
we invite you to worship with us Sunday, April 5, 2020
using these avenues:

YouTube @ 10:30 a.m.
First Baptist Church, Bogata, TX YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJMoTpwo4yQZm4-u8ybT6Eg

Broadcast @ 9:00 a.m.
Broadcast will be at 9:00 a.m. on 101.9 FM.

Greetings Family!

I hope you and yours are well during this unusual season. Things are weird out there, but God is NOT taken by surprise, and He has plans for this situation, and He has plans for you. Also, remember that God doesn't promise that we will have a life free of storms and fire, but that He will be with us through the storms and fire. We don't know how long this will extend, but we know God's love and mercy is limitless.

We are working to improve our streaming of services so that it will be as smooth an experience as possible despite the unusualness of it all. Go to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJMoTpwo4yQZm4-u8ybT6Eg. This is the church's YouTube channel. You will see sections for past videos or current video. Look for a title that is for the current Sunday. You won't need a subscription to watch. If you are willing to subscribe to the church's YouTube channel, it would be great, as we are trying to reach 100 subscribers. This would allow us to create a unique YouTube website name that is easier to pass along and remember than the long series of letters and numbers above. I encourage everyone to log on at the same time so we can be discovering God's truth, worshipping, and praying in unison.

We are adding a new avenue to grow together for those not so inclined to online endeavors. We will be broadcasting the preaching portion of our services at 9:00 a.m. on 101.9 FM. This will be a tad earlier than the rest of the service as this is the only time slot they have available. We are using this station to broadcast so we can hopefully reach some folks outside our normal demographics with the Word. It's a win-win as our folks can listen in, and we have the potential to reach thousands outside our church family!

Warmest regards,

Bro. George Spears, Senior Pastor

BOGATA FEST Postponed

The annual Bogata Fest event, traditionally held the day before Easter at Thomas Park, has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The annual event has offered ten years of uninterrupted celebration with amazingly cooperative weather each year.

Each year, Bogata Fest offers a day of free fun at Thomas Park with an egg hunt, bounce houses, free hot dogs and hamburgers, and many other fun activities.  Due to the calls for social distancing and concerns for crowd sizes that could contribute to the spread of COVID-19, First Baptist Church Bogata has decided it appropriate to delay this year's celebration.

We consider it a postponement as we fully anticipate having a community celebration when this is over.  We are in contact with our partnering churches for how things will develop depending on timing.  Whether it is an egg hunt in June, Mother's Day picnic, or back-to-school celebration, our hope is to have a plan in place to bring the community together (when deemed safe) to celebrate our community, our fellowship, and our God.

"R KIDS"

It is estimated that 1 in 4 children in our region struggle with food insecurityies.  For some, the only consistent meal they receive is at school.  First Baptist Church's "R Kids!" program is working to bridge the gap on weekends for Rivercrest students K-12 grades who may not have a meal after they are released from school on Friday until they return to school on Monday for breakfast.

Children who participate in the "R Kids!" program are discretely sent home a sack of nonperishable items (distributed by their teachers) on Friday in their backpacks.  These sacks contain easy-to-prepare snack foods to insure that the children will have something to eat on the weekends.

If you would like to schedule a time for your group (team, business, club, organization, family) to fill sacks, please contact the church in the following ways: private message on the facebook page for "R Kids!"; contact the First Baptist Church of Bogata at 903-632-5218; email message to fbcbogata@gmail.com.

First Baptist Church accepts monetary donations for this program and is thankful for every dollar donated to purchase the food.
